As a Data Engineer at Zalando, you'll act as a connector between our data teams and the rest of our diverse engineering department. Whether junior- or senior-level, you will use cutting-edge technologies to create high-performance data processing solutions that scale. What we're looking for

• Demonstrated professional experience programming in Python and/or a JVM language
• A passion for staying on top of emerging data-processing technologies
• At least three years of professional experience working with event-driven architectures and/or data-intensive systems
• Experience setting up and running high-performance distributed systems with high-availability
• Profound knowledge of traditional databases and their relational and NoSQL alternatives
• A strong understanding of how Spark, Kafka, EC2 and other cutting-edge technologies can work together
• Detailed knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or Oracle strongly preferred
• Experience with building and/or running large-scale applications on a PaaS/SaaS cloud, preferably AWS
• English language fluency
